We are looking for Faculty members interested in supervising Palestinian students (advanced undegraduate and master students) for small projects. If you are interested, please send an email to purop@birzeit.edu!
The Palestinian Student Research Project is a new venture designed to foster the formation of collaborative research projects involving faculty and students from Palestinian universities and abroad.
This program is modeled on a system in use at MIT and many other US institutions. In its current form, the program is funded by a small grant from the Higher Education directorate of MIT’s Jameel World Education Lab https://jwel.mit.edu/j-wel-higher-education
See a list of available projects here!
Some details:
- Each project must involve a faculty member and at least one student (undergraduate or masters degree, selected by the Palestinian faculty lead) from a Palestinian university and a faculty member from elsewhere (not necessarily MIT or US). Ideally there should be student participation from abroad as well.
- Projects will be approved by the PSRP Committee, with membership specified below. They will be approved on a semester basis but may be extended as appropriate. Deadlines will be proposed but now in this initial phase they will be waived.
- Student participants may request compensation for their work on the project. The rate of pay is $6/hour up to a maximum of $1000 for a semester. Students will invoice the lead faculty by submitting time sheets, which will be honored through an agreement with Birzeit University.
- Scientists for Palestine has generously offered to host the website for this program. Look here for proposals seeking partners, a form for submitting proposals, and reports on accomplishments of past projects
